Autumn Festivals Return for 21st Edition
Youth and Technology Featured in 2025 Program
The 21st edition of the Autumn Festivals, organised by the University of Aveiro (UA), will take place from October 26th to November 28th, 2025, under the theme Youth and Technology.
This year’s program is a space for reflection and artistic experimentation, highlighting the role of music among younger generations and the importance of technology in artistic creation and in promoting more inclusive community participation.
Pedro Rodrigues, UA professor and artistic director of the Festivals, explains in the introductory text: “The role of music among younger generations, as well as the types of technology intervention in artistic contexts, enable new forms of creative expansion and participation, inclusive and enriching for the entire community.”

The 2025 edition stands out for its aesthetic plurality and a strong connection with the region’s educational and artistic community. “We have built a collaborative network with regional arts education institutions—the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Aveiro, Banda Amizade, the Dão Conservatory of Music and Arts, and the University of Aveiro itself—to offer a unique space for the promotion and appreciation of young performers,” emphasises the artistic director.
The program includes prominent names from the national and international scene, such as Surma, Martín Sued, and the Assintomática Orchestra (nominated for the 2025 Latin Grammys), and Daniel Bernardes (SPA Authors Award 2025), along with several academic and emerging projects. The opening concert will feature the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and soloist Laura Peres (1st Prize – Young Musicians Award 2024), under the direction of Maestro Jan Wierzba. The closing concert brings together Henrique Portovedo, the same orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro, conducted by Luís Carvalho.

One of the main focuses is once again the “Shows for Families,” which in previous editions captivated younger audiences and returns with a new program. The 2025 edition thus aims to reinforce the mission of the Autumn Festivals as a platform for dialogue between generations, exploring the relationship between tradition, technology, and artistic innovation.
The free concerts are subject to capacity, and reservations are not possible. Other tickets are now available at BOL.
