The international competition will feature 11 feature films and 10 short films, including the experimental films “Armor”, by producer and director Sandro Aguilar, and “Rock Bottom Riser”, by Fern Silva.
Co-produced with Canada, “Armor” features the interpretations of Jean-Philippe Catellier and Eduardo Aguilar, and has already been present in a dozen festivals, including Curtas de Vila do Conde, Caminhos do Cinema Português and the International Encounters of the Montreal documentary (Canada).
“Rock Bottom Riser” is presented at the French festival after being in Berlin, where it received an honorable mention. Based on images of a volcano in Hawaii, the film addresses issues of science, prospecting in nature and colonialism.
Fern Silva, Portuguese-American born in 1982, son of Portuguese who emigrated to the United States, is a visual artist and film director, with artistic work already shown in the context of festivals, art galleries and museums.
In the 43rd edition of Cinéma du Réel, which is organized by the Pompidou Center, in Paris, the film “E agora? Remem-me” (2013), by Joaquim Pinto, will also be shown, a documentary about a year clinical trials that the director underwent for the treatment of the Hepatitis C virus.
