Festival Dá Corda opens on the 29th of July with a concert by Miguel Ângelo Quarteto at the Six Senses Douro Valley Hotel, at 7 pm, with the aim of joining efforts between the culture and tourism sectors.
This collaboration will be materialized through live music concerts, with online transmission, in different hotel spaces and accommodation units located in the Porto and North region, and will last until January 2022.
Each performance will translate into a work opportunity for the musicians and their technical team involved in the production of the show and, simultaneously, a tool for the dissemination and promotion of the spaces chosen as the stage.
The concerts are aimed at hotel guests. They will also be broadcast on social networks and the public can apply for free stays.
Festival Dá Corda thus intends to reactivate two sectors that have been heavily affected by the pandemic and revitalize tourism in areas of the country with less demand, showing the potential of each location.
The event has a luxury premiere with a concert by the renowned jazz group, Miguel Ângelo Quarteto, in one of the most emblematic hotels in the Douro region, the Six Senses Douro Valley.
The Quartet recently released the album “Dança dos Desastrados” which has received critical acclaim.
The former Quinta de Vale Abraão, a 19th century jewel that gave its name to a book by Agustina Bessa-Luís and to the film by Manuel Oliveira, has been converted into a hotel, the only resort in Europe by the Asian chain Six Senses, and which is recognized also for the practice of sustainability (local products, reduction of waste and plastic), favoring Portuguese wines and products from small producers. Six Senses also has a Sustainability Fund designed to support three projects in local communities.
The Dá Corda Festival is an initiative of BMC Events and has the support of the Portugal 2020 European Funds through the Guarantor Culture and Compete 2020 Program. More concerts will be announced soon.
