Évora short film festival returns in September

The submission phase of the films to the contest runs until May 31, on the FilmFreeway platform (filmfreeway.com/fikeevora) or on the festival’s official website (festivalfike.com).

In the year that marks the 20 years since its creation, the 2021 edition of FIKE, Évora International Short Film Festival, the 17th, will take place in the Alentejo city from September 20 to 25, revealed SOIR today .

Fiction, animation and documentary are the categories to which ‘short films’ can run, less than 40 minutes (including credits), produced or premiered after January 1, 2019.

The awards to be attributed by the official jury of this 17th edition of FIKE will distinguish the best fiction, the best documentary, the best animation and the best Portuguese short film, the New Talent Prize (monetary prize).

This year, the Don Quijote Prize will also return to the festival, an award to be given by the jury of the International Federation of Film Clubs (IFFS – International Federation of Film Societies, in English), whose network of partner festivals FIKE has been part of since 2004.

The 2021 edition of FIKE, in addition to being organized by SOIR, is supported by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual, the Évora Chamber, the Intermunicipal Community of Central Alentejo, the Regional Culture Directorate of Alentejo and the University of Évora.

FIKE 2021 supports Évora’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2027, added SOIR.
