Maia Folk Music Festival

September 15th and 16th at Parque Cidade Desportiva

The 3rd edition of the Maia Folk Music Festival, promoted by the Department of Culture of the Maia City Council with production by In Rock We Trust, will take place on September 15th and 16th at Parque Cidade Desportiva da Maia, with free admission.

Once again, the highlight goes to the choral or instrumentalist groups that, through the collection of traditional Portuguese music, or even its creation, bring our ancestral past to the present. Examples of this are the Coletivo Capela which brings together several family generations; Pé na Terra, created in Porto but with concerts throughout Europe and Southern Africa; Crua, female percussion and vocals collective; and Monte Lunai, a cross between Portuguese, Galician, and Celtic roots.

This year’s edition brings something new, the end of Saturday night will be animated by DJ Gaiteirinho, between Folk music and World Music.

On Saturday, September 16, at 11:00 am, the program is dedicated to children and families with the Ballómundo Dance Workshop coordinated by the Coreto Association.

As in the 2022 edition, a Food Court was created, a catering area to support the festival in order to keep people in the event area during the period between concerts.

The program for this edition of the Maia Folk Music Festival is as follows:
