The 55th edition of the Sintra Festival is nominated for the Iberian Festival Awards, organized by Aporfest – Portuguese Association of Music Festivals, for 5 categories. Voting runs until January 31, 2022.
Under the sign of Reencounter, Sintra Festival is nominated in the categories Best Festival, Best Indoor Festival, Best Cultural Programme, Best Lusophone and Hispanic Festival and Best Covid Safe Festival.
The Mayor of Sintra, Basílio Horta, underlined that “it is a great honour for the Sintra Festival to be nominated for these awards. The realization of the 55th Sintra Festival had a particular symbolism and meaning, the title of this edition of the Festival “The Reencounter – Music, Ballet and Heritage” was a clear message of belief in a New Era, of believing in culture as a factor of human reconstruction and of unity among peoples – especially at a time that people wanted to believe after Covid”.
Sintra City Council presented a festival of great names from the national and international scene and was also marked by the return of dance and ballet to Seteais. Under the sign of “Reencounter”, the 55th Sintra Festival celebrated life and the reencounter of the enjoyment of live art, in Heritage and Nature, in the historical and natural territory that in 2020 celebrated the 25th anniversary of its inscription as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Iberian Festival Awards distinguish the festival industry in Portugal and Spain and in Portuguese-speaking and Ibero-American countries, which have stood out in several categories in the last 12 months. The winners of the sixth edition of the competition will be announced on March 26, in Lisbon.
