The Emergente Festival returns to BOTA this week, on December 26th, 27th and 28th. 18 shows over 3 days, celebrating the biggest edition of the festival, after the highest participation ever in the Open Call, with over 134 entries.
Since its first edition, the Emergente Festival has been the “festival of the new generation of independent Portuguese music.” A festival focused on what best defines emerging national music: the profusion of very diverse and eclectic sounds, which in turn result from a huge diversity of mixtures between indie-rock, traditional music, electronic dance music, jazz and original music sung in Portuguese.
To prove this, the 2025 edition of the Super Emergente Artists Open Call received 134 entries (42 more than in 2024) from all over the country and the islands, from varied musical genres and of very high quality, which made the task of the Emergente Jury difficult.
Given the quantity and quality of entries received, the Emergente Festival opened two more slots for Super Emergente Artists, in addition to the 9 initially planned. From experimental music, through electronic, pop and pop-rock, rap, to Punk-Rock, but also mixtures and reinventions of all of these. Thus, the 11 selected names, in alphabetical order, were:

The selection was made by a jury composed of a group of professionals from the music industry: musicians, producers, radio broadcasters, journalists, managers and bookers, all true music lovers, who ensure the demanding task of making the best selection each year.
Joining the Super Emerging names selected through the Open Call 2025 is the band MÃO CABEÇA, winner of the 8 NEXT Sessions, chosen by public vote.
The artists and bands complement the already announced program: Inóspita, Malva, Divã, bbb hairdryer, Chat GRP, and MÁQUINA, which open and close the program each day. There will be 18 concepts throughout the 3 days of the festival, with 6 shows per day, divided into two sessions: 3 shows in the afternoon and 3 shows in the evening, each day.
The Emergente Festival has featured guest artists such as Filipe Sambado, Pedro Mafama, Solar Corona, and Bandua; and projects selected through the Open Call include Lana Gasparøtti, Humana Taranja, Marquise, Malva, IBSXJAUR, Líquen, among many others.

From December 1st to 14th, limited daily ticket sales at €18.
From December 15th until the last day of the festival, tickets for 3-show sessions, afternoon and evening, at €12 / session.
EMERGENTE FESTIVAL HISTORY
More than 300 bands from the newest Portuguese music scene have already passed through the Emergente Open Call (with 92 entries last year alone), and of these, 42 have performed on the various Emergente stages since 2020, since there was no Open Call in the first edition, in 2019.
