Samba circle on the Sagres Stage lawn – 8 pm to 9 pm

The samba circle is a traditional form of musical celebration originating in Brazil, where musicians gather in a circle and play typical instruments. This intimate format has been a huge success in Portugal, attracting both the Brazilian community and the Portuguese, mainly due to the energy it transmits. ‘’Sambambas’’, a collective that was formed unexpectedly 3 years ago, made this union a true “bamba batucada, beautiful samba cadence”. In a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere (in the format of a Samba Circle), traditional samba classics parade.

The band is made up of Paulinho Lêmos – vocals and guitar; Tuniko Goulart – voice and cavaquinho; Natália Boechat – voice and tambourine; Carlos Poubel – voice and tom-tom; Marcelão Duarte – voice and percussion.

The exhibition includes vintage images, personal objects and references to colonialism, the 25th of April Revolution and the punk-rock movement. The project also addresses topics such as nonconformist youth, AIDS and transsexuality, and reflects on the social and cultural changes that occurred after the end of the Estado Novo in Brazil.
