The Fado Festival Bogotá celebrates its 11th edition at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo on November 8th and 9th, in what is the largest international showcase of this legendary Portuguese musical genre.

On this occasion, the acclaimed event will feature the return to Bogotá of the renowned Portuguese singer and songwriter Carminho, who will perform her album”Portuguesa for the first time in the country, as well as some songs from her new album, scheduled for release later this year.

André Dias and Hugo Gamboias will present a very special tribute concert to Carlos Paredes, entitled “Espelho de Sons,” where they will play songs from the repertoire of the legendary guitarist.

In addition to concerts with renowned artists, the festival also includes conferences, film screenings, and an exhibition. This edition will feature the screening of the documentary Movimentos Perpétuos (Perpetual Movements), by Edgar Pêra, the conference “Carlos Paredes and the Portuguese Guitar of Coimbra” by guitarist André Dias, and the exhibition “Wings over the World,” dedicated to Carlos Paredes.

Completing 15 editions since its inception in Madrid in 2011, the International Fado Festival, titled this year “100 Years Carlos Paredes” (in honor of the centenary of the exceptional Portuguese guitarist), promotes fado—and, consequently, the Portuguese language and culture—in 20 cities across 14 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

As a whole, the Fado Festival program offers a rich and diverse experience that celebrates the music, culture, and legacy of Carlos Paredes, one of the great masters of the Portuguese guitar.

The Carlos Paredes Centennial is the result of a partnership between the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Lisbon City Council, and Lisboa Cultura, through the Fado Museum.
