The Morocco Fado Festival returns for the sixth consecutive year, on the 8th and 9th of September, with the theme “O Fado and the Portuguese Guitar” with concerts, film presentations, and conferences.
For its sixth Moroccan edition, the Fado Festival will have as its theme “Fado and the Portuguese Guitar”. An emblematic Fado instrument, the sounds of the Portuguese guitar are inimitable. The history of the Portuguese guitar goes back to the beginning of the 19th century. It was born in the popular neighborhoods of Lisbon, where street musicians began to use it to accompany fado singers. Over time, the Portuguese guitar has evolved, both aesthetically and in terms of popularity, becoming the symbol of Portuguese music, associated with nostalgia and the emotions of fado. Today, it represents a rich and vibrant heritage of Portuguese culture.

To celebrate this beautiful heritage, the Fado Festival will feature two great names Fado and the Portuguese guitar.
On Friday, September 8, at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat, the public will be able to enjoy concerts by singer Cristina Branco and guitarist Bernardo Couto, and the following day the artists will head to Casablanca for another night of presentations at Studio des Arts Vivants. In addition to the concert, there will also be a screening of the film “Artur entre Paredes” and the conference “Guitarra Portuguesa” with Bernardo Couto.
