International Festival of Organ and Sacred Music in Gondomar

The International Festival of Organ and Sacred Music (FIOMS) kicked off yesterday in Gondomar, with a concert by the Coro Pequenos Cantores de Esposende, under the direction of Helena Isabel Venda Lima – the first of three concerts in the municipality.

This first concert, which took place at the Igreja Matriz in Gondomar (São Cosme), is part of the program of the Municipality’s 2021 Festival, and is also known as the “Concerto dos Patroeiros“.

FIOMS runs until the 24th of October and has 42 concerts spread across several churches in the Diocese of Porto. In Gondomar, there will be concerts on 16 and 23 October, at the Igreja Matriz in Rio Tinto and at the Matriz da Foz do Sousa, respectively. The organists Marie-Ange Leurent (France) and Pablo Márquez Caraballo (Spain) will be present at each of these concerts – both scheduled to start at 9:30 pm.

FIOMS has the participation of 24 national and foreign organists, three conductors, two choirs, an ancient music ensemble and a symphony orchestra.
