The Lux Interior Festival is a project by the publisher Lux Records, which aims to promote the artists in its catalog and, at the same time, immortalize one of the most emblematic and inspiring figures of the Coimbra rock bands: Lux Interior, leader of the Cramps.
Lux Records was founded in 1995, and since then it has made known much of the best music from the city of Coimbra: Belle Chase Hotel, Tédio Boys, Legendary Tigerman, Sean Riley & The Slowriders, D3O, Wraygunn, Bunnyranch, Tiguana Bibles, Ruby Ann & The Boppin’ Boozers, É Mas Foi-se, Ghost Hunt, António Olaio & João Taborda, Azembla’s Quartet, Victor Torpedo, Tracy Vandal, Bodhi, The Walks, Millions, Raquel Ralha & Pedro Renato, Wipeout Beat, Birds Are Indie, Mancines, Animals, Twist Connection, Spicy Noodles, Tricycles, From Atomic, John Mercy, Peter Suede and Eigreen.
But not only does Coimbra live the history of Lux Records: Mão Morta from Braga, X-Wife from Porto, Unplayable Sofa Guitar and Madame Godard from Viana do Castelo, Born A Lion from Marinha Grande, Houdini Blues from Évora, Dirty Coal Train from Viseu, Ray from Lisbon, and even Swell from San Francisco (USA), Dean Wareham from New Yorkers Luna (USA) and Catenary Wires (from Kent (UK) have their history marked by the Lux Records label.
After the break due to the pandemic, Festival Lux Interior is back, and to the place where it all began: Convento São Francisco, in Coimbra.
On the 17th, 18th, and 19th of March 2023, the fourth edition of Festival Lux Interior will not only be a compilation of the label’s activity over more than two decades but also and mainly, an opening of new horizons for production music from the city of Coimbra.
