Festival ‘O Jazz tem Voz!’ happens between 9 and 11 October in Lisbon
There will be five concerts that make up the program of the new festival ‘O Jazz tem Voz!’, Which includes an exhibition, an illustration workshop by André Letria, and a conversation, in a Clave na Mão organization, which has the partnership of ‘ Voz do Operário and the support of the Lisbon City Council – Social Emergency Fund.
[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n October 9th, 10th and 11th, more than thirty musicians and technicians will take the stage, at a time when, due to the covid-19 pandemic, many continue to see their concerts canceled or postponed. The program is composed entirely by Portuguese musicians or residents in Portugal and includes the absolute debut of a new group that joins the voice of Rita Maria, the saxophone of João Mortágua and the guitar of Mané Fernandes.
On the 9th, at 9 pm, Bernardo Moreira Sexteto, who presents the project ‘Entre Paredes’, in which he returns to the repertoire of guitarist Carlos Paredes, after the album ‘Ao Paredes confesso’, from 2002.
The concerts of Quang Ny Lys, at 5 pm, and the César Cardoso Ensemble are scheduled for October 10, which will present the album “Dice of tenors”, at 9 pm.
For the last day of the festival, October 11, a concert for parents and children is scheduled ‘O Jazz é Fixe!’, with Vânia Couto (voice), Alvaro Rosso (double bass), and João Mortágua (saxophone), at 11 am, and the performance from the Songbird project, which joins Luís Figueiredo (piano) and João Hasselberg (double bass), at 6 pm.
The concerts, with paid entrance, take place in the Salão do Voz do Operário, with the exception of the 10th of October, at 5 pm, by Quang Ny Lys, which is scheduled for Largo de Santa Marinha, also located in the Graça neighborhood, and has free entry.
In addition to the concerts, an exhibition with old posters from the Hot Clube de Portugal will be open during the festival, there will be a space where books and records will be on sale and a conversation is scheduled on Saturday afternoon, under the theme ‘Portugal and Jazz’. , which will count with the participation of Portuguese musicians or residing in Portugal.
In the days leading up to the festival, two illustration workshops will take place, with students from Voz do Operário, under the responsibility of illustrator André Letria.
‘O Jazz tem Voz!’ joined the União Audiovisual, an informal group to help cultural professionals, and asks anyone who goes to the festival to bring “non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products and cleaning products”.
