Politics Festival Announces Dates in Aveiro, Loulé, and Coimbra
For the First Time, the Politics Festival Will Hold an Event in Aveiro
The Politics Festival, the largest event dedicated to human rights and citizenship, with free admission, returns in the final months of 2025 with more programming and activities.
The dates for the Politics Festival have now been announced until the end of 2025. On October 15th and 16th, the festival will hold its first edition in the city of Aveiro, with activities at the University of Aveiro and the Dr Lourenço Peixinho House. Loulé will host the Politics Festival from October 23rd to 25th, with programming at the Cineteatro Louletano and other locations throughout the city. The last edition of the 2025 Politics Festival is scheduled for November 13th to 15th at the São Francisco Convent in Coimbra.

In the year marking the 50th anniversary of the Ongoing Revolutionary Process (PREC) and the first free elections in Portugal, the Politics Festival program highlights the current “Ongoing Revolutions” in Portuguese society and beyond. The full program by the city will be announced soon.
The Politics Festival program combines film, poetry, music, humour, conversations, debates, performances, and exhibitions, all with free admission. All performances and debates have interpretation into Libras, and all films, including those spoken in Portuguese, are subtitled in Portuguese.
The Politics Festival is a concept of the Politics Festival, co-produced by the Politics Festival (Aveiro), the Municipality of Loulé (Loulé), and the Municipality of Coimbra/Convento São Francisco (Coimbra), with support from the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, the National Electoral Commission, and the European Parliament – Office in Portugal.

Created in 2017 in co-production with EGEAC (Lisbon’s Cultural Equipment and Entertainment Management Company), the festival has been part of the Lisbon Municipality’s April 1974 revolution commemoration program since its inception. The Politics Festival has held its own editions in Braga since 2019, in Loulé since 2022, and in Coimbra since 2023. Aveiro will join the group of host cities in 2025.
