Festival União Hip Hop + Reggae announces full poster – Cancelled

Due to an extraordinary problem, beyond the control of the organizers of the event, the FESTIVAL UNIÃO HIP HOP + REGGAE, which was scheduled to take place on the 17th of September at the LX Factory, in Lisbon, was CANCELLED.
For those who purchased tickets online, the refund will be possible until November 14, 2022, and must be done through the BOL website. For other buyers, just go to the usual place where the ticket was purchased.

Chyna, Don Andre, Young Boda and Simply Rockers Sound System feat Mayombe join Valete and Ponto de Equilíbrio for the first Portuguese edition of the event on September 17, at LX Factory

The Union Hip Hop + Reggae Festival lineup is finally complete. The stars of Valete and Ponto de Equilíbrio are joined by the incredible Chyna, Don Andre, Young Boda and Simply Rockers Sound System who invite Mayombe to their concert. They promise to make a lot of noise on September 17th at the LX Factory. The event is produced by Groovin and the first tickets have already started to be sold at a promotional price and in limited quantity.

After five Brazilian editions, with the sixth scheduled to take place in June this year, the União Hip Hop + Reggae Festival debuts its first international version. The event will last more than eight hours and promises not to let anyone down.

We are very happy with the Festival lineup. I think it encompasses the values ​​of both cultures well and will make anyone who likes the various styles that are linked to Hip Hop and Reggae happy, such as Trap, Drill, Dancehall and Dub. Chyna, Don Andre, Young Boda and Simply Rockers Sound System feat Mayombe are valuable additions and complete the great concerts that Valete and Ponto de Equilibrio will give. I think our audience will really like it. And this is just the first edition of several that we want to do in Portugal”, explained the event’s producer, Dirceu Melo.

Since 2016, the União Hip Hop + Reggae Festival has hosted in its other editions great artists such as Alpha Blondy, The Abyssinians, Horace Andy, Racionais MCs, Cone Crew, Mano Brown and Edson Gomes, among others.

ABOUT THE UNION HIP HOP + REGGAE FESTIVAL

The União Hip Hop + Reggae Festival has already had five editions in Recife, Brazil, and the sixth will be held on June 3rd. Throughout these editions, the event received renowned international artists, such as Alpha Blondy, The Abyssinians and Horace Andy, alongside important names in the Brazilian scene, such as Racionais MCs, Cone Crew, Edson Gomes and Mano Brown, among others. The first edition outside Brazil was scheduled for 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic caused the plans to be postponed. The musical event bets on the mix between two rhythms and cultures that apparently seem so different, but complement each other, uniting worshipers from both sides. Groovin production company was founded and is led by businessman, cultural producer and musician Dirceu Melo.

ABOUT VALETE

VALETE, the artistic name of Keidje Torres Lima, is a Portuguese rapper who this year celebrates 20 years since the release of his first album, the iconic “Educação Visual”. One of the greatest in the genre, Valete edited “Colete Amarelo” with the politically incorrect and visceral register so characteristic of Valete, known in the hip hop environment as the heavy metal version of national rap. Activist, historian, storyteller and philosopher, Valete is one of the great contributors to the dissemination of the repertoire of Portuguese music, always aware of his surroundings.

ABOUT PONTO DE EQUILÍBRIO

One of the biggest Brazilian reggae bands returns to Portugal after five years of its last performance and comes big to celebrate its 22 years of career. Formed by Hélio Bentes (vocals), Márcio Sampaio (guitar), Pedro ‘Pedrada’ Caetano (bass), Lucas Kastrup (drums), Marcelo Campos (percussion) and Tiago Caetano (keyboards), the group emerged in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the neighbourhood of Vila Isabel in 1999. The lyrics, composed by the members themselves, convey messages of equality, love and justice, according to the Rasta philosophy. The sound is influenced by dub and samba and some regional rhythms such as capoeira de Angola, maculelê and maracatu. On their return to Portugal, Ponto de Equilíbrio will present the songs from the album “Família Ponto”, released in 2021, in addition to career successes.

ABOUT CHYNA

In 2016, João Silva, better known as Chyna, released the first theme and edited an EP entitled ‘Made in Chyna’. Since the launch of this project, the Portuguese rapper never stopped presenting work consistently until he reached his latest project, the EP ‘Chyna Town‘. All these themes and collaborations solidified the vision and art of Chyna who, in 2021, presented herself as more mature, complete and with a lot of news and in 2022 she will be with us mixing the good vibes of reggae with the rhymes and beats of Hip Hop.

SIMPLY ROCKERS SOUND SYSTEM Feat. Mayombe

SIMPLY ROCKERS SOUND SYSTEM, a group is already known in the Lisbon Dub scene and whose objective is to publicize the past and present of Roots Rock Reggae Dub music, through dance sessions that explain through music what cannot be explained with words. Ernesto Honesto and Natty Fred invited Mayombe to be on stage.

DON ANDRE

Don Andre, André Afonso’s alter ego, felt from an early age captivated by the world of music, from African, to reggae and dancehall, reaching hip hop and R&B. He will be on stage at the Hip Hop + Reggae Festival on June 17th, at Lx Factory, putting everyone to dance to the vibe of the best beats and grooves in black music.

YOUNG BODA

Raised in the transition of hip hop between the 1990s and 2000s, João Pedro Adão, from Corroios, better known as Young Boda, completely consumed and absorbed all the subgenres of this era, from boom bap to g-funk, also transiting through R&B However, it was in Trap that he found his passion and developed his space as a DJ, following the new school of the genre and making the future a very close horizon. In 2021, he launched his first solo project “Saldo Insuficiente”, a musical journey through the rhythms of the drill, baile funk and even future garage.
