FIFA supports Portugal, Spain and Morocco bid for the ‘2030 World Cup

Gianni Infantino is expected to express his support in Marrakech this week.

The joint candidacy of Portugal, Spain, and Morocco for the organization of the World Cup of 2030 could receive, this week, a strong supporter. Nothing more, nothing less, than FIFA itself.

Gianni Infantino, the president of the governing body of football, will travel to Marrakech on Tuesday, where he will be speaking in favor of the candidacy.

If confirmed, this could be a significant setback for the British bid, which, in turn, would have the support of UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, who expressed against a possible transcontinental candidacy.

“I am not a supporter of candidacies between confederations. I do not think that’s a good idea. I spoke to the president of the Portuguese Football Federation [Fernando Gomes], and he said that he never even discussed the possibility, “the official began.
