The Portuguese driver Filipe Albuquerque confirmed today the return to the World Championship of Resistance (WEC) in 2019, with a car of the American team United Autosports, with which he will also compete in the European Le Mans Series.
Coimbra’s second-place runner-up LMP2 in 2016 will team up with Briton Phil Hanson at the helm of a Ligier JS P217. The goal will be to “fight for the title.”
“I am very happy to be back in the World Cup in 2016 and I was second in the LMP2, so now I only have the ambition to reach the title,” said the Portuguese, who will also compete in the US championship with João Barbosa.
“I think we are in the right place to fight for the title at WEC but also at ELMS. It will be a very professional year, competing in three championships, but I am prepared and focused to get the best results on all fronts,” he concluded. Filipe Albuquerque, quoted by his press office.
