Film ‘Rival’ wins award at the German Expression Film Exhibition

This festival only awards the audience prize, this year with online voting, with viewers choosing ‘Rival‘, which tells the story of a boy who leaves Ukraine to find his mother who works illegally in Germany as a housekeeper and nurse.

Rival‘ is the second fictional feature film by Marcus Lenz, whose path in cinema passed through Portuguese production, since he signed the photography direction of the films ‘Breathing (underwater)’ (2000) and ‘Forget everything that told you’ (2001), by António Ferreira.

The Kino public prize, worth 800 euros, was created in 2019 and recognizes first and second German-speaking feature films.

The Kino show annually presents a selection of feature films from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg, most of which are shown at international festivals.

Kino – German Expression Film Exhibition is an initiative of the Goethe Institute in Portugal.
