Alexandra Ramires’ film wins SPA/Vasco Granja award at Monstra
The film, which this year already won the Quirino award for Best Visual Development, also won the public award in the Portuguese competition and the awards for best national ‘short’ and the public award in the short film competition.
Also in the Portuguese competition, “Seja como for”, by Catarina Romão, received an honorable mention.
Produced by Bando à Parte, with França, “ELO” has already been shown in about 30 festivals and exhibitions, and has received more than a dozen awards.
In the feature film competition, the prize for best film, sponsored by RTP, went to “Wolfwalkers”, by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, also distinguished for the soundtrack, while the special award from the jury went to “The Nose or the Conspiracy of Dissidents” by Andrey Khrzhanovsky.
“Hyper-Plastic Orgiastic”, by Paul Bush, was the winner of the award for best international short film, going to the award for best experimental film in the category of short films for “Average Happiness”, by Maja Gehrig.
Also in the short films, the special award from the jury went to “Genius Loci”, by Adrien Mérigeau, while “Ecorce”, by Samuel Patthey and Silvain Monney, received an honorable mention.
In the Very Short category, dedicated to films with less than two minutes, the winners were the films “Water”, by Cesar Diaz Melendez, internationally, and “101 uses for a cut penis”, by Dan Murphy, on the Portuguese side.
