As usual, Tiago Bettencourt gave us an excellent concert in the week before Christmas, this year back at the Coliseu dos Recreios in a 360º concert, he took us on a journey through his life and the songs that influenced him in “Fim de Festa“.
December is back and Tiago Bettencourt was once again at Coliseu dos Recreios and Casa da Música on the 18th, in 2022 The Orquestra Clássica do Centro joined him, marking the beginning of the “celebrations” of his 20-year career, which ends with this concert, in a different format, where we were taken on a journey through his memories, life, music and journey of one of the best musicians of his generation.
“Fim de Festa” tells us about his childhood, adolescence, unrequited loves, songs that marked his journey, and of many who attended the concert, a concert without formalities, as if in Tiago’s living room, surrounded by friends, among stories and songs.
Tiago Bettencourt Portuguese singer-songwriter who has been acclaimed for his soulful vocals, heartfelt lyrics and captivating stage presence. Born in Santa Cruz, Portugal, on September 16, 1979, Bettencourt’s musical journey began at a young age, influenced by his father’s passion for music and his grandmother’s love for poetry.
His musical career leapt forward in 2001 when he joined the band Toranja, where he acted as vocalist and guitarist. The band released their debut album, Esquissos, in 2003, selling over 60,000 copies, and becoming one of Portugal’s most popular alternative rock bands.
In 2007, Bettencourt began a solo career, releasing his debut album, O Jardim, the album showed his mature composition style, incorporating elements of folk, pop and rock. His subsequent solo albums, Em Fuga (2010), Tiago Na Toca & Os Poetas (2011), Acústico (2012), Do Princípio (2014) and A Procura (2017), solidified his reputation as a versatile and talented artist.
Bettencourt’s songs often explore themes of love, loss, and personal growth, infused with a poetic sensitivity that resonates with listeners. His voice, characterized by its raw emotion and expressiveness, has earned him comparisons to legendary singers such as David Bowie and Leonard Cohen.
In addition to his solo work, Bettencourt has collaborated with several artists, including legendary Portuguese singer/songwriter Carlos do Carmo and Brazilian Zélia Duncan. He has also participated in theatre productions and composed music for films and TV shows.
Tiago Bettencourt has already received several awards, including several MTV Europe Music Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Portugal Music Awards, and also represented Portugal at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival, in Italy.
Bettencourt continues to be a prominent figure in the Portuguese music scene, continuing to captivate audiences with his performances, in addition to the fans who follow him within borders, he has already gained many devoted followers around the world and is widely regarded as a of Portugal’s most influential and beloved singers and composers.
