Cascais Opera finalists have already been selected
April 28th was marked by a general blackout, however, nothing can take the light out of Cascais Opera, and we managed to select the eight finalists who will be on May 4th, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon.
The Grand Final of the 2nd edition of Cascais Ópera – International Singing Competition, an event that celebrates the excellence of music, art and the talent of young opera singers from all over the world.
The selected singers are:
Ana Rita Coelho, PORTUGAL – Mezzo-Soprano
Anna Tetruashvili, ISRAEL – Mezzo-Soprano
Viktor Aksentijević, SERBIA – Baritone
Defne Celik, GERMANY – Soprano
Laura Brasó, SPAIN – Soprano
JaeWoung Lee, SOUTH KOREA – Bass
Manhan Qi, CHINA – Soprano
Sehyun Kyung, SOUTH KOREA – Tenor
In the final, the eight young singers will take to the stage of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation accompanied by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of maestro Antonio Pirolli. More than €40,000 in prizes are up for grabs, including the Grand Prix Égide, worth €10,000, which guarantees the winner a contract with the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos. In addition to the cash prizes, the finalists will also be able to win performance opportunities in international theatres and festivals.

The Competition is co-organised by the CIVOC Association, the Cascais City Council and the D. Luis I Foundation. It is supported by the ”la Caixa” Foundation, in collaboration with BPI, Égide – Portuguese Association of the Arts, Millennium bcp Foundation, Cascais Tourism, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon City Council, SRS Legal, Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra, Leitão & Irmão Joalheiros, Pestana Hotels, and Hyundai. It has RTP as its Media partner, and the institutional partner of this competition is the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos.
