Ready for another weekend?

It’s time to roll up the sleeves that this weekend has bard animation. There are exhibitions and cinema and theater and shows of all kinds, for all tastes.

For Lisbon, the highlight goes to the D. Maria II National Theater that presents itself for a new season with party the way. In Porto there is still the Book Fair going on but there is also a circus to the fartazana.

It is not worth staying at home these days 14, 15 and 16 September. Look below for our suggestions for Porto and Lisbon.

Lisbon

Free admission to D. Maria II

The name of the event seems tailor made to this agenda. Free entrance is the day when the National Theater D. Maria II will be with the doors wide open, ready for two days of animation during the weekend.The invitation is simple: just appear. Learn everything here.

Fair of the Light in Carnide

The Fair of Light, in Carnide, is one of the oldest in the country, giving animation to Lisbon during the month of September. There is food and drink, handicrafts, crockery and so much more for sale but there is also a good atmosphere and music, lots of music, in a poster that is once again full of well-known – and very different – names of Portuguese music. This Saturday, for example, is on account of Carapaus, Olive Oil & Garlic. But there is more. Learn all about the Fair of Light here. The program can be consulted here.

Once again, the gardens of the Lisbon Museum – Pimenta Palace are the cinema room chosen for CineCidade, integrated in the Lisbon program on EGEAC Street. This year’s theme is sport and this Friday, September 14, there is a confrontation with the cinematic history to enjoy, with a work of the talented and dangerously close to the Nazi regime Leni Riefenstahl. Roy Liechtenstein in Colombo

An exhibition with 41 works by the American painter Roy Lichtenstein, from pop art, landscapes and posters, is giving color and life to the Colombo Shopping Center. Learn more about this artist and this commendable initiative from Colombo here. An opportunity as simple as must-see, to see until September 23.

Dance the City

The Eucaliptal Garden of Benfica receives another event inserted in the festivities Lisbon na Rua, one that promises to shake the hips. This Sunday, September 16, is the African dances that are featured, with percussion to match and even entitled to ‘dancing tips’ from professionals.

Somersby Out Jazz continues

It has been news but, with each passing year, it is more and more tradition. And one that is well worth keeping. Out Jazz joins live music in the late afternoon in Lisbon’s noblest green spaces. In September it is in Jardim da Estrela that the party of the Somersby Out Jazz is made. .

Porto

Invicta is a circus

No, we’re not instilling anyone. The Invicta city these days is really a circus. There is the International Circus Festival of Porto, with more than 40 free shows scheduled by the city outside. Find out all here.

Italian Gaia

The Italian Festival is already taking place in Vila Nova de Gaia and will continue until the 17th of September. The program of the event will also include musical concerts, Italian DJ sessions, lunches in solidarity with Galician institutions, free workshops and different activities for the family. There is a Book Fair in Invicta

The Book Fair is back to the Gardens of the Crystal Palace. It began last September 7 and lasts until September 23. There are stalls with books and more books and more books, enough to make ‘bookworms’ faint with emotion. But there is more: there are storybook readings for the little ones, music and book launches as well as great opportunities to find authors. José Mário Branco, one of the voices that sang freedom in the times of Salazarism, is featured in this year’s edition. Learn more here.

The Timers Revival Meeting

Lovers of cars and motorcycles of the past will be entitled to a weekend of the past where they can re-use a different weekend. The Timers Revival Meeting takes place this weekend at the Serra do Pilar Barracks in Gaia.

Dominguinho Zen

The MAR Shopping continues to give us Dominguinhos, Sunday mornings with animation thinking about the little one. This Sunday there is Zen Plastic Arts Workshop, in an event to think of the youngest. It is free but you will need to register. Learn more here.

Urban Market – It’s still summer

And because it is still summer, there is Urban Market – It’s still summer to liven this Friday, Saturday and Sunday the square of Cardosas.

Portobello … Porto Belo

Every Saturday, the historic and world-famous London market of Portobello has a version to think about the ‘relax’ at Invicta. Here is Porto Bello, which has several benches. Purchases will have to be paid with the effort of the wallet
