The first gala of the Centenary of Amália Rodrigues takes place today at Coliseu do Porto, with Katia Guerreiro, Ricardo Ribeiro, Cuca Roseta, Joana Amendoeira and Gonçalo Salgueiro, among other fadistas.
The gala scheduled for last year was postponed due to the pandemic context and, for the first time this year, it will take place in Porto and, in Lisbon, at Coliseu dos Recreios, on the 9th, with the same poster.
This poster also includes Peu Madureira, and musicians Pedro de Castro and Luis Guerreiro, on Portuguese guitar, André Ramos, on viola, and Francisco Gaspar, on bass, and actress and singer Lúcia Moniz who will recite poems by Amália Rodrigues.
An exhibition about Amália, produced by FAR, runs from September 30th to October 10th, at Centro Comercial Colombo, in Lisbon.
The show includes posters, photographs, and dresses of the fado singer who has played a career spanning more than 50 years, having sung in the most varied international venues, from Olympia, in Paris to Lincoln Center, in New York, from Sistina Theater, in Rome, to Canecão, in Rio de Janeiro, among others.
This year, the traditional Amália Awards are not awarded.
