MSI Bioperformance Founder Strengthens Partnership with Axiom Space. Ax-4 mission is scheduled for May 2025.
Recognized for its work with elite athletes and optimizing human performance, MSI Bioperformance, led by Portuguese physiologist Emiliano Ventura, announces its role in preparing the crew of the Axiom 4 (Ax-4) Mission, developing a program specific to the physical and mental demands of human spaceflight.
The partnership is ongoing and astronauts are preparing for their mission to the International Space Station, which is scheduled for May 2025.
Emiliano Ventura, Director of MSI Bioperformance, takes responsibility for personalized exercise programs and monitoring the astronauts’ performance, supporting pre-mission preparation, mandatory quarantine protocols and post-mission recovery to ensure they maintain peak physical and cognitive performance throughout all phases of the operation.
Emiliano Ventura: “Each mission presents unique challenges that require innovative solutions. Our partnership with Axiom Space reinforces our unwavering commitment to advancing the science of human performance and the success of space exploration. The Ax-4 mission is a testament to the transformative impact of this work.”
Alex Rubin, Group Director of Medical Operations at Axiom Space: “The partnership with MSI Bioperformance, under the leadership of Emiliano Ventura, has been instrumental in connecting crew health support on the ground and in orbit for our missions to the International Space Station.
Their expertise ensures that our astronauts recover quickly from the effects of microgravity, with personalized support tailored to each crew member. By leveraging innovative physical and cognitive performance strategies, MSI is setting new standards in space health management. This collaboration not only improves the well-being of our astronauts but also contributes to the overall success and safety of our missions.”
This mission comes on the heels of MSI Bioperformance’s support for Axiom Space’s third commercial astronaut mission, the Axiom 3 Mission. With the Axiom-4 mission scheduled for late May 2025, MSI Bioperformance will once again play a key role in ensuring astronaut performance is optimized.
