Foodstock canceled
In a communication received by Hunter Halder, he informs that the Foodstock event has been canceled.
“The Refood Movement regrets to inform you that it found itself in the contingency of canceling the organization of the Foodstock event, which was scheduled for the 20th to the 23rd of April, in Lisbon.
Despite the efforts of the partners, volunteers, and artists who joined the project from the beginning, the assessment made by the Foodstock organization found that the participation of the general public was proving to be insufficient to make the event possible.
Foodstock was conceived as an invitation to the community to embrace the causes of sustainability, solidarity, and inclusion, with the additional premise of strengthening the capacity of the Refood Movement to support more and more families in situations of food shortage in each of the locations where the project is present.
The natural frustration we are feeling at this moment – and which we know is shared by all partners in this cause – will not, however, remove the priority focus of each of the Refood Movement volunteers: taking advantage of food waste to help those most in need, involving all community in this work, in favor of a more solidary, fairer and more sustainable World.”
