Ana Alberto, with the best set of images, was the big winner of the 16th Photographic Half Marathon in Setúbal, whose awards ceremony took place on the 6th, followed by the opening of an exhibition at Casa do Largo.
The initiative distinguished the best sets of photographs taken on 20 June in a ten-hour photographic odyssey organized by the Municipality of Setúbal.
With the theme “The Spirit of Time”, participants were challenged to feel inspired by feelings of nostalgia, to reflect on the clash of generations and cultures and to capture the inevitable change of the advance of time.
“The taste of the past”, “that word saudade”, “tact vs. touch”, “cultural diversity”, “coexistence of generations”, “paper culture”, “architecture with history” and “the smartphone era” were the eight sub-themes to be fulfilled by the competitors.
In addition to Ana Patrícia Neves Alberto, winner of the contest, José Silva and Inês Murta were awarded in the 16th of the contest, second and third place, respectively.
Honorable mentions were also given to Bernardo Pinho, Celeste Vaz, Dina Oliveira, João Bento, Leonor de Sousa Santos, Pedro Batista, Rafaela Pinela and Ruben Quintas.
Participants who won the podium received prizes of 350 and 100 euros and a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 machine, for the first, second and third place, respectively, awarded by União das Freguesias de Setúbal and the Junta de Freguesia do Sado.
The competition jury was made up of individuals linked to the field of photography, namely Catarina Pinote, municipal technician, Nuno Oliveira, professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal and trainer at the Employment and Professional Training Institute, and Alexandre Nobre, producer and director of FIAR – Cultural association.
The photographic exhibition with the 20 best images that portray the theme “The Spirit of Time” is on display at Casa do Largo – Youth Hostel until August 29 and can be seen every day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is free.
The Setúbal Photographic Half Marathon, aimed at professional and amateur photographers, is an initiative carried out by the municipality with the aim of stimulating the taste and interest in photography and of drawing attention to the municipality’s natural, architectural and human resources.
