Guitarist Francisco Sales presents Fogo Na Água, his latest album released in October last year, at CAE in Portalegre. On this tour, he has been touring the country, Francisco performs in a trio accompanied on stage by Sandra Martins, on cello and voice and Edu Mundo on drums, percussions and voice.

With Fogo Na Água, musician and composer Francisco Sales enters a new career phase. In this third album – which succeeds the highly acclaimed Mles Away from 2017 -, the guitarist has invested four years of work and presents himself as exploring the sound of different instruments – not only electric and acoustic guitars but also 12-string or the iconic metallic guitar known as the Duplo – to build a very emotional set of pieces that evoke ideas of strength, struggle, and resilience, also navigating through some contrasting notions already pointed out in the title: fire and water, earth and air, primordial elements which here are translated into highly evocative music and in which the deep Portuguese identity is explored – as in Pulsar da Terra, for example.
The musician, who worked closely with Jean Paul Maunick’s Incognito in England, now called Beatriz Nunes, is an acclaimed jazz singer who even joined Madredeus, to add voices to his own compositions for the first time. Francisco guarantees that Beatriz represents his own soul. In this work the composer himself describes as being more cinematographic and in which he guarantees to have reinvented himself as a composer, the production was shared with Tiago Gomes.
Live, Francisco Sales will perform as a trio for the first time, taking over all the guitars himself while Sandra Martins ensures cello and vocals and Edu Mundo takes care of drums, percussions, and vocals.
