Francisco Sassetti presents the single “Música For Her”

“Actually”, says the musician, “most of the songs on the album are already about 10 years old. After the death of my brother, Bernardo, in 2012, I began compulsively composing, almost as if I wanted to continue his work, so tragically left halfway through. It was a form of mourning and also a space of peace and silence. On the other hand, the demanding work as a concert performer and teacher (at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and at Orquestra Metropolitana, among other institutions) did not leave me much time to finish the compositions, which I managed to do”, reveals Francisco.

In fact, it wasn’t just inside her that the disappearance of her brother Bernardo Sassetti left an enormous void. This feeling of loss helps to explain the contemplative and cinematic side of his pieces, which are very lyrical, and develop into a plot that sounds almost magical and is undoubtedly full of emotion. Tracks like Dawn, Home, or Goodbye reveal the emotional weight that is entangled in the melodies that touch us at our deepest level. Sad but never gloomy, introspective, and nostalgic, this music also vibrates with life and passion and asserts the name of Francisco Sassetti in the exciting panorama of the neoclassical scene.
