Guitarist, musician and producer FRANKIEONTHEGUITAR, known for his collaborations with national artists such as Bispo, Ivandro, T-Rex, Diogo Piçarra, Slow J, Piruka, Fernando Daniel and Lhast, as well as international famous names such as Trippie Redd, Ne-Yo, Lil Tecca, M Huncho, Smokepurpp or Lil Mosey, just signed by Virgin Music Portugal.
Born in Porto, Francisco José Gualter de Vasconcelos Baptista or Frankie Baptista, started playing the guitar at just 9 years old. In 2016, he started posting videos on his Instagram account where he improvised with his guitar over Portuguese rap themes. This style became his hallmark, quickly receiving numerous positive responses from several Portuguese artists, including Bispo, with whom he began collaborating and playing live.
FRANKIEONTHEGUITAR made his debut in 2017 in the single “Por Pouco” by Lhast with Gson, in which he made his guitar known to the world more widely.
The musician remained active in the Portuguese hip hop scene with collaborations with Jimmy P, Piruka and Kappa Jotta, and again with Bispo, having collaborated on the hit “Essa Saia” which also features the special participation of Ivandro.
In 2019, his career catapulted to an international dimension when he was invited by US producers Taz Taylor and Cxdy to join US label Internet Money Records. This recognition came after producing “Love Sick” by Trippie Redd, which was a mega-success internationally, adding more than 100 million streams.
Since then, he has produced for other internationally renowned artists such as Ne-Yo, Lil Tecca, M Huncho, Smokepurpp or Lil Mosey.
In 2020, he released his first solo single, entitled “Tempo”, with the participation of Bispo, LON3R JOHNY and T-Rex, this single achieved an amazing success, having been the 2nd most heard national song in 2020, currently it already has more than 20 million streams.
A year later, he worked with Diogo Piçarra and Bispo on the single “Monarquia”, which quickly became a hit and has accumulated over 15 million streams.
Also in 2021, Frankie releases her 2nd single “Imagina” co-produced by Slow J and with Ivandro in the voice, this theme was a huge success and already has more than 15 million streams.
Frankie now joins Virgin Music Portugal and is preparing to release her 3rd single “underwater”, with Van Zee and Diogo Piçarra, continuing the dynamic of creating unique and unexpected collaborations between big-name artists and rising artists.
