Frederico Silva eliminated before the semi-finals in Kazakhstan

Frederico Silva still took the quarter-final match to the third match, after having conceded the first and having been at a disadvantage in the second (1-3), but he was unable to take advantage of any of the four break points he had and saw Ofner ( 171º ATP) seal the triumph, with the partial 7-6 (7-2), 4-6 and 7-5, in two hours and 30 minutes.

Despite being eliminated for the second consecutive week in the quarter-finals in Nur-Sultan, the national number three, 25, has now virtually secured his climb to 172nd in the world, his best ever ranking.

Sebastian Ofner will discuss access to the final with the winner of the meeting between Japanese Taro Daniel (121st ATP) and Tung-Lin Wu (243rd ATP), from Taipei.
