“Fuego Sagrado”, the new single from Meta_, precedes the debut album “XIV – A Integração” which will be released with the Argentine label SHIKASHIKA on May 19th.
“Fuego Sagrado” marks a new musical era for Meta_, where the dance between the organic and the electronic is deepened, in storytelling in 3 languages — Portuguese, Spanish, and English —, announcing the hybrid, emotional, and formal nature of the album, inspired by trip Meta_ made to South America in 2019.
“Fuego Sagrado” is a song about liberation, anchored in the knowledge and powers that each woman carries with her. It is an ode to love and all the cycles it encompasses, showing fire, sacred here, as an inner strength and never as a weapon.
In “Fuego Sagrado”, Meta_ invites self-love, an encounter with nature and its inevitable regeneration. The sound of the single, whose lyrics, voice, and composition were created by the artist, summons the body to the dance of an emotional purge and counts on the collaborations of Bom Beijo, in the joint production; Manu Idhra, on additional percussion and Ana Marta Dias, Sara Duarte Brandão and Rita Gonçalves, on the choir.
The video for “Fuego Sagrado” was filmed on land undergoing regeneration, a victim of the 2022 fires. In this space, Meta_ draws a route that honors ancestry and evokes healing, both for the land and for itself. Here, the fire is also that of burning, the ritual of burning the pruning that clears the land so that it can regenerate more easily. In turn, the ceramic piece, the work of Rita Pereira, represents women’s cycles, and the various phases of the moon. The concept of “Fuego Sagrado” is a journey of acceptance and regeneration of the internal and external skin, using fire as a symbol of power and transmutation.
“Fuego Sagrado” is the first moment in which the artist unites dance and music, something that she will incorporate in the live shows that she already has scheduled for the summer, putting into practice the invitation to dance that her sound evokes. Along the way, Meta_ has danced classical ballet for 13 years and also has experience in urban and contemporary dance.

Biografia
Meta é Mariana Bragada, nascida em Portugal, na região de Trás-os-Montes. Canta, escreve e produz o seu universo musical trazendo as suas raízes, a sabedoria ancestral, para uma nova perspectiva na música Folk Eletrónica.
Meta_ cria a sua tapeçaria sonora inspirada nas viagens que realizou pela Europa e pela América do Sul, um som sem fronteiras, entre sentimentos e a história dos seus desafios e fantasias, criando um universo híbrido de sons orgânicos e electrónicos, trazendo uma nova perspectiva aliada às suas raízes portuguesas.
Meta_ estreou-se discograficamente como o EP “Mónada”, em 2019, com o qual andou em digressão pela Europa. Nesse mesmo ano, foi convidada pela Antena 1 para compor e actuar no Festival da Canção, do qual foi finalista, e ganhou o prémio de Melhor Projecto Musical no Festival Emergente. Em 2021, foi distinguida na categoria Música pelo Prémio Nacional Jovens Criadores. No ano passado, editou 2 músicas com Xinobi no seu mais recente álbum “Balsame” (e integra agora a banda ao vivo), e gravou para o aclamado ARTE Concert. Apresentou-se a solo no Festival Rio Loco (Toulouse, França), Urkult Festival (Suécia) e Mumi (Galiza, Espanha). Em Portugal, Meta_ tem actuado em alguns dos melhores festivais de música como Bons Sons, NOS Alive, Westway Lab e tocado e gravado para TEDxPorto, Sofar Sounds e MPAGDP. Ainda em 2022, Meta_ aparece pela primeira vez a cantar no filme “Lobo e Cão” de Cláudia Varejão e, já este ano, estreia-se como actriz no espectáculo “Invencível Armada” produzido pela associação cultural UmColetivo.
A par de Xinobi, Meta_ já colaborou com Octa Push (PT), FOQUE (PT), Bom Beijo (SE), Temple Rat (Shanghai, China), :Papercutz (PT), Luíz Gabriel Lopes (BR) e LaBaq (BR).
