Funk, Soul, and more, invade the TMJB on the 21st

Cais Sodré Funk Connection will be in the Main Room of the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater, on the 21st, at 8:30 pm.

They are accompanied by a special guest, Paulo de Carvalho, who will participate in three themes.

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]orn in the heart of the bohemian neighborhood that gives them their name, they are the first resident band of the Musicbox club, the center of the current musical night in the Portuguese capital. Passionate about funk and soul, the band recreates, with all its own personality, the sound and ambience of the classics of Motown, Stax, Chess Records and other mythical publishers from the 60s and 70s – putting in that dedication and energy of a real celebration.

The experience of this group of veterans of Portuguese music, which together brings together elements from Cool Hipnoise, Orelha Negra, Mr Lizard, Cacique 97, Banda Sérgio Godinho (among other renowned projects and musical formations of the cream of the Portuguese music scene), guarantees the necessary wisdom for the production of the most contagious groove.

His proposal is a journey through the history of black music according to the teachings of the godfather James Brown. As in a careful selection of a funk dj, they dedicate themselves to recreate live, through a band of nine elements, some of the most soulful and energetic moments ever recorded on vinyl. James Brown, Otis Redding, Etta James, King Curtis, Bobby Byrd or Ray Charles sound through them as powerful as the originals, still giving space for jam sessions and interaction with the public, through their one man show Silk (Fernando Nobre) and of the beautiful voice of the beautiful singer Tamin. A true embassy of funk and soul, the Cais Sodré Funk Connection show also revisits several other classics in the history of hip-hop.
