Gal Costa announces concerts in Lisbon and Porto

The great Brazilian singer Gal Costa is back in Portugal to present “As Various Pontas de uma Estrela” in Lisbon and Porto. The artist will perform on November 15th, at Coliseu dos Recreios, and on November 20th, at Casa da Música.

Tickets are on sale through Ticketline and at the usual places. The show is produced by YN MUSiC.

Gal’s connection with Portugal comes from her birthplace: her grandfather was born on the island of Madeira. Over the nearly 60 years of her career, she has strengthened relations with the country in several presentations. In one of the most remarkable ones, Gal recognized the incredible Amália Rodrigues in the audience, of whom she is a declared fan, and invited her to sing. In her most recent album, “Nenhuma dor”, from 2021, Portuguese music was represented by the participation of António Zambujo. The two sing together “Pois é”, which is in the script on the tour that the artist is now bringing to Europe.

In the repertoire, in addition to the song that gives rise to the concert – a composition by Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso, from 1982 – Gal will sing his greatest hits such as “Baby”, “Festa do Interior”, “Divino Maravilhoso”, and also compositions by other great names in Brazilian music, such as Tom Jobim, Dorival Caymmi, Chico Buarque, and Caetano Veloso.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Gal Costa tested the piano, bass, and drums format – exchanging the guitar accompaniment for the piano. The band that will take the stage with the singer is formed by Fábio Sá (electric and acoustic bass), André Lima (piano), and Victor Cabral (drums and percussion).
