Seeking to anticipate the needs of its customers, Galp now advances with a pioneering concept of portable charging of electric vehicles, through which the customer will be able to request the service at a time and place of his convenience.
Drivers of electric vehicles who were in the Algarve were able to recharge their car batteries using this technology now being tested, which was developed by the Portuguese start up AddVolt.
The project tested in the Algarve, aims to gauge the interest of consumers in this more convenient solution, which can complement the current installed network of chargers and contribute at the same time to mitigate any constraints on the network, due to excess demand.
During this pilot, the charges were free and lasted 15 minutes each, which allowed a range of up to 35 km, depending on the vehicle model.
A pioneer in Portugal and Europe when, in 2010, it installed the first fast charging point for electric vehicles at a service station in Lisbon, Galp is today the market leader in offering electric charging points in Portugal.
In 2018, Galp was also the first operator to present to the national market an integrated plan for home and road in the scope of electric mobility, the Galp Electric plan.
