National construction company selected for a project aimed at expanding the productive and logistical capacity of the multinational that manufactures sports and recreational boats under the Quicksilver and Bayliner brands.
Garcia Garcia is responsible for the Design & Build project, with intervention in terms of architecture, engineering and execution of the work, for the Portuguese subsidiary that exports its entire production.
The American multinational Brunswick, the leader in the design, construction and marketing of entertainment products, currently the world’s largest producer of leisure and pleasure boats, entrusted Garcia Garcia, a construction company specializing in the design and construction of industrial and logistical buildings, with the expansion of its industrial unit, in Vila Nova de Cerveira. In line with its growth and expansion strategy, this project will allow the Portuguese subsidiary to increase its production and logistics capacity and is scheduled for completion in June of next year.

Demanding construction
The project consists of the expansion of Brunswick’s facilities, through the construction of a new industrial facility. The works include the demolition of an existing building and the construction of a new one, adjacent to the company’s current facilities. The new building will add a total area of 5,200 m2, of which 4,000 m2 will be used to support production and 1,200 m2 on the upper floor will be used in administrative and social areas.
The conceptual phase of the project took into account some challenges and constraints, namely the available space and the fact that the company continues to work, which forced solid planning and effective coordination between Garcia and Brunswick. In this way, all interventions have been planned and are being carried out so as not to cause constraints on Brunswick’s normal activity, and the carrying out of the works on site was previously thought out to ensure the safety of all workers and the normal working of the company.
In addition to the construction of the new industrial facility, the construction company is carrying out some improvement work on the existing buildings, with the aim of optimizing Brunswick’s production processes and facilities.
This is the second project that Garcia has developed with Brunswick, reinforcing a partnership that began in 2012, when the construction company was responsible for rebuilding one of the industrial facilities in the Portuguese subsidiary’s complex.
