Gipsy Kings, Borel Nego, and Ana Moura in the Sanjoaninas in the Azores

The Sanjoaninas festivities, which take place from June 21 to 30, in Angra do Heroísmo, have as headlines Gipsy Kings, Nego Borel and Ana Moura, revealed the municipality today.

It will present music for all tastes, from the youngest to the oldest,” said José Gaspar Lima, deputy mayor of Angra do Heroísmo, at a press conference.

The Portuguese musician David Carreira is the first to step on the main stage of the parties on June 21, followed by the Gipsy Kings, with Andre Reyes, the band from France, very popular in the 1980s, for their music by Rumba Flamenca.

On June 27, funk dominates the main stage of the Sanjoaninas with the Brazilian singer Bor Borel, followed by the fado of Ana Moura on the 28th and the hip hop of Jimmy P, on the 29th.

On the afternoon of the 28th, there will also be a show for the youngest with ‘The World of Sara’.

There are also DJ performances, especially Dubvision (21), Krash (21), Zinko (25), Bass Jackers (26), Kevu (28), Steven Rod (29) and Azorean Souza (27).

Sanjoaninas is a festival of international and national music, but also of culture, gastronomy, folklore, ethnography … This is what we want the Sanjoaninas to be, ten days of joy, of revelry, in which everyone has fun, “said the vice president of the municipality.

This year, the festivities have the theme “Angra, gift of the king and the people“, in an allusion to the exile of the king Afonso VI, in the island Terceira, from June of 1669 to August of 1674.
