Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro awarded in Malaysia

The photography “Hope and belief” was once again awarded in an international photography contest. This time he managed to reach the finalist of Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards, in Malaysia, a contest exclusively dedicated to portrait photography.

The image of Ratna Khaleesy, captured in 2018, was among the 40 finalists in a total of 1220 photographs in the contest.

Judges awarded first place to a portrait of Karoline Schneider, while second place went to a low profile pose in the classic style of Umaru Joji. The third prize was given to a portrait captured by Natalia Ershova, from Russia ”, revealed Steven Lee.

The jury for this edition was composed by photographer Kenny Loh, artist Haley Morris-Cafiero, Leica photo editor Carol Körting, director of the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival, Jessica Chan, and also photographer SC Shekar.

Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards [KLPA] is one of the most prestigious annual photography awards in the world, dedicated exclusively to portraiture. Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro is a Portuguese photojournalist with a 20-year career.

Born in 1979 in Alfama, Lisbon, Portugal, he has been living in Macau since 2010, where he has been developing documentary photographic work in areas mainly of a social nature, but also of travel photography.
