Gonçalo Oliveira goes to the ‘eighth’ of the Anning tournament

The Portuguese tennis player Gonçalo Oliveira qualified for the opening round of the Anning tournament today as he beat 16th-seeded Chinese Ze Zhang in the second round of the Chinese challenger circuit.

Gonçalo Oliveira, 295th place in the world rankings, was forced into two sets by the 7-6 (10-8) and 6-3, to a tennis player who is positioned many places up in the ATP, in 215th place, after two hours of confrontation.

The triumph in the first encounter with Ze Zhang allowed Gonçalo Oliveira to advance to the knockout stage of the Chinese clay court tournament, in which he will face the winner of the clash between Jason Jung of Taiwan, fourth pre-designated and 134th of the world, and Belarusian Uladzimir Ignatik, ranked 239th in the ranking.
