Gonçalo Oliveira in the second round of the ‘challenger’ in Istanbul

Portuguese tennis player Gonçalo Oliveira qualified for a second round of the Istanbul Challenger tournament today, beating Adrian Menendez-Maceiras 6-3, 2-6 and 6-2.

In a meeting that lasted about two hours, Gonçalo Oliveira, 268th in the world ranking ATP, returned to the triumphs in the debut of a ‘challenger’, which did not materialize since the end of July, when he won in Liberec.

The Portuguese player, who faces Frenchman Antoine Hoang (217th) in the second round in Istanbul, was able to beat a top-ranked contender in the ranking today, against Menendez-Maceiras 124.1.
