Goodyear airship flies over Europe once more

The investment plan also includes an update of the range of products launched over the past 18 months, a realignment of the company’s distribution network, with the aim of maintaining business growth, the launch of e-commerce options, new agreements to enjoy a greater presence in the media and a return to international car competition.

The blimp that will operate in Europe will be an aircraft with the Goodyear brand, owned by Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei GmbH, from Friedrichshafen, in Germany. The event constitutes a new chapter in a relationship with almost one hundred years between these two large companies.

The semi-rigid Zeppelin NT aircraft measures over 75 m in length and almost 18 m in height. It is the same model as the one operated by Goodyear in the United States.

The aircraft will act as a brand ambassador for the tire manufacturer as it flies over Europe, also providing unique aerial coverage of crucial world-class sporting events over the coming months.

Most often seen flying over major US sporting events, including NASCAR, numerous NBA games and the PGA Tour de golf, the Goodyear blimp is also a European icon in its own right.

The Goodyear blimp flew over Europe sporadically a few years later. However, this new adventure that started today in Friedrichshafen, constitutes the return of the Goodyear blimp since his last trip to Europe in 2012.

The Goodyear aircraft will depart from the German city of Friedrichshafen, and will fly over several regions of Germany over the next few weeks. Furthermore, it is planned to take charge of capturing the aerial views of some of the main European competitions in the 2020 auto calendar.

Something that will give an additional and significant boost to Goodyear’s return to international competition. The company has already been named official supplier of LMP2 class tires for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), European Le Mans Seris, British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and, through a new media partnership with Eurosport, Europe’s leading sports channel, the FIA Touring Car World Cup (WTCR) and Pure TCR, the first multi-brand championship for fully electric touring cars, starting in the 2020 season.
