The Black and Silver Salon of Estoril Casino hosts the Great Flamenco Gala on May 30. A spectacle, not to be missed, that pays homage to Porrina de Badajoz, Marquis do Flamenco and Amália Rodrigues, Queen of Fado.
Porrina de Badajoz, the stage name of José Salazar Molina, was one of the most emblematic flamenco singers of the 20th century. Belonging to a Gypsy family, he stood out for his unmistakable timbre and for the unique way he interpreted genres such as fandangos, seguiriyas and soleas.
In addition to the recognition in the Flamenco world, Porrina maintained a close and productive relationship of friendship and professional collaboration with Amália Rodrigues, sharing influences between flamenco and fado and strengthening the cultural ties between Spain and Portugal.
To mark the centenary of his birth, a great special show will gather on stage 13 Flemish artists and a fadista, where the ball sings and the guitar joins in an exciting tribute in honour of Porrina de Badajoz, Marquis do Flamenco and Amália Rodrigues the Queen of Fado.
