Guimarães hosts the event from June 6 to 8
At the opening ceremony, Patrick Child and President Domingos Bragança will sign the Letter of Intent for the European Green Capital 2026.
Green Week Guimarães is back, from June 6 to 8, and brings with it a program full of initiatives for all ages, with concerts, ecological fireworks displays, workshops, conferences, immersive experiences and many new features. Under the motto “On the Road to the European Green Capital 2026”, the 2025 edition highlights Guimarães‘ commitment to environmental sustainability and the mobilisation of the community towards this goal.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for the afternoon of Friday the 6th, will be attended by Patrick Child, Director-General for the Environment of the European Commission and Mission Manager of the 100 Cities Mission, and the Mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, who will sign the Letter of Intent of the European Green Capital 2026, publicly reinforcing the city’s commitment to this path.
Another highlight of the program will be the immersive experience “Bairro C”, which invites the public to reflect on the urban environment and sustainability through an immersive and sensorial installation.
On Friday, the evening will be marked by a “Momento de Celebração”, an ecological fireworks show that promises to surprise the public with an innovative and environmentally conscious approach. This will be followed by a show by the winner of The Voice Portugal, Luís Trigacheiro, who promises to liven up the night with his unique voice.
On Saturday, music will be back with one of the most charismatic names in national pop, Marisa Liz, performing at 10 pm on the Green Week stage, preceding the highly anticipated “Silent Party” at Largo do Toural.
Green Week Guimarães 2025 will also feature dozens of environmental education workshops, activities for families and children, artistic presentations, showcooking, eco-friendly and organic markets, a food court, workshops and conferences. All of this in a vibrant, festive and educational environment, which mobilises institutions, schools, associations, companies and the community in general to build a greener future.
Promoted by the municipality of Guimarães and the Landscape Laboratory, Green Week reaffirms Guimarães‘ role as a European pilot city in environmental policies and invites all citizens to be part of this journey, on the way to the European Green Capital 2026.
