Gregorio Duvivier and Ricardo Araújo Pereira, two talented Portuguese-speaking comedians, will reunite on stage for the show “A Portuguese and a Brazilian enter a Bar”: on 5 May at the Teatro Tivoli BBVA, in Lisbon.
“A Portuguese and a Brazilian enter a Bar” is back! Ricardo Araújo Pereira and Gregorio Duvivier will meet again on stage at the Teatro Tivoli BBVA, in Lisbon, on a unique night scheduled for the 5th of May.
The date chosen for this long-awaited reunion between two figures of humor in the Portuguese language could not be more appropriate. May 5th is the International Day of the Portuguese Language, and there is no better way to celebrate it than with the best humorous table tennis about its peculiarities.
Gregorio Duvivier is the co-creator of the biggest humor channel in Brazil, “Porta dos Fundos”. Ricardo Araújo Pereira is one of the founding members of the group Gato Fedorento and one of the most recognized comedians in Portugal. They got together for the first time in 2017 and, since then, they became friends and have been looking for excuses to meet again.
Remember that in 2021 this show sold out in a few hours five dates between Lisbon and Porto. Two years later, the two friends are now meeting again for a unique night celebrating not only the Portuguese language but also the humor and culture of both peoples.
A PORTUGUESE AND A BRAZILIAN ENTER A BAR…
How to make humor in times of cancellation? Ricardo Araújo Pereira and Gregorio Duvivier understand this very well, as both are canceled every week. They came back to tell the story. Sometimes they try to cancel, too. But they get stuck in an endless telemarketing call. Impossible to cancel an account, let alone a person. “Anything is funny as long as it happens to someone else,” says Mel Brooks. Talking about actors will be about grace which is the difference between grace and disgrace.
The world has changed, and it doesn’t stop changing. The mood changed with it. But it doesn’t change the way it used to. Even that has changed. Making fun is, in fact, increasingly difficult. But nobody said it would be easy. The obstacles to doing humor today make the profession even more challenging and, why not, funny.
Gregorio and Ricardo will not respond, however, to questions such as: “Is it possible to laugh at everything?” or “what is the limit of humor”? Tired of hearing the same questions over and over again, the two comedians decided to ask new questions, these fundamental ones: why is it that “already” is now, but “already” is in a little while? Why is “uh-huh” yes, but “uh-huh” no? This is what matters to be discussed today. Many will say that there is very little that unites all Portuguese variants. The pair of speakers will disagree. All variants despise the New Spelling Agreement with equal fervor.
