Mercan Group invests €56 million in new hotel in Porto
The new Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto will be born in the city of Porto, one of the most recent investments by the Mercan Group in partnership with the RA Group (Reference Arrojada Group). Under the Renaissance brand, which belongs to Marriott International, the building will be located in one of the most historic districts of Porto, with a breathtaking view over the city. The projected investment is 56 million euros.
Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto is expected to have an area of around 14 thousand square meters, 163 rooms, a panoramic rooftop outdoor pool with bar and terrace, a restaurant with a capacity for 250 people and a congress center with capacity for up to 600 users .
Located near the church of Lapa, and in the parish of the same name, the hotel is close to public transport and just a 10-minute walk from the Porto City Hall, the Torre dos Clérigos and the city’s well-known restaurants and historic buildings.
The Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto will create 140 direct jobs and already during the construction phase it will have 110 workers permanently. This is an architectural project signed by Visioarq Arquitectos and interiors of Broadway Maylan studio and will stand out for the simple and elegant forms developed with top engineering by JFA Engenharia, adjusted to the urban context and the city landscape. The future Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto will have Leed Gold certification, recognizing the excellent energy and environmental performance that the project presents.
The first stone of the Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto, launched on May 19 with the presence of the vice-president of the Porto City Council, Eng. Filipe Araújo, symbolically marks the beginning of the construction of this project, which began in the first 2021 and is expected to develop over the next 18 months. The work is the responsibility of the construction company Cobelba S.A.
The construction of the Renaissance Park Hotel – Porto starts months after the start of work for the new Four Points by Sheraton in Matosinhos. An investment of 20 million euros by the Mercan Group, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and which will create 50 jobs. This was the first project with the seal of the Marriott International chain in Matosinhos.
