Guarda is ‘Christmas City’ between December 1st and 25th

The Guarda will return to be “Christmas City” between December 1 and 25, at the initiative of the City Council which, during the holiday season, intends to attract visitors and stimulate the proximity trade.

The Municipal Council of Guarda presided over by Álvaro Amaro (PSD), said in a statement that at that time “the Guard shines higher with the Cidade Natal”, providing a Christmas animation program that “promises to shelter the heart” of the guardians and visitors.

Praça Luís de Camões, next to the Cathedral, will once again be the centre of all animation.

This year, the space of the initiative “Christmas City” will have an ice rink and an electric train, “with its beautiful wooden station and a magical route,” according to the local authority.

There will also be a huge interactive Christmas tree, a musical bandstand, a Parisian carousel, Santa’s House, Balloon Photo and Ice Island.

In the context of the Christmas animation, initiatives will be carried out in other places in the city of Guarda, such as the José de Lemos and Frei Pedro gardens.

The two spaces will receive, between December 01 and January 7, the activity “Christmas Magic”, which includes cribs and Christmas trees, made by private social solidarity institutions and public and private schools of the county.

The program also includes, on December 9, between 10:00 and 10:00 pm, the holding of the “Aconchego de Natal” social fair.

“In this fifth edition, the solidarity initiative takes place in the Centro Comercial La Vie and brings together in a single space the institutions of the social network of Guarda, promoting through them the sale of handicrafts, handicrafts, regional products and sweets and whose value of sales will revert to help those who need it most this Christmas, “according to the statement.

The Municipality of Guarda also organizes a Christmas Window Shop Competition, aimed at the commercial establishments of the county, which will run from 01 to 31 December.

The contest intends to “contribute to the promotion, promotion, attractiveness and dissemination of the proximity trade” and the winners will receive a prize in the amount of 1,000 euros.

With the animation program of Natal, the Guarda autarchy aims to “give even more life to the Guarda, attracting visitors, revitalizing the heart of the city, stimulating the commerce of proximity, involving public and private institutions and at the same time return self-esteem to guardians, awakening the Christmas spirit, proper of this festive season “.
