Gui Aly secured a spot on the NOS Alive’21 poster by winning the final of the 7th Portuguese edition of EDP Live Bands. The artist gathered the consensus of the jury and was chosen among the five bands that took the stage at Campo Pequeno last Saturday, October 10, in a show that was broadcast live on EDP’s YouTube channel.
The big winner of this last edition is a young artist who acts solo, composes his own music and is accompanied only by a guitar. Gui Aly writes and sings in English, a language he has mastered since he was a child and in which he found the best way to express himself by making his voice his main instrument.
With this victory, Gui Aly secured a performance on the stage at NOS Alive’21, in Algés, and at the Mad Cool Festival 2021, in Madrid. In addition to these two participations, he also won the opportunity to record a disc with Sony Music, produced by musician Hélio Morais, a video clip and the possibility of performing in four showcases at FNAC.
EDP Live Bands is a project that seeks new musical talents and gives them the opportunity to play on large stages. The workshop to which the finalists were entitled, aims to give them the necessary tools to prepare for this new professional life.
In all editions, the initiative has already attracted the participation of more than 10,000 amateur bands, to which EDP Live Bands gave the opportunity to take the leap from the garage to the stage. This significant adhesion demonstrates the relevance that the project has been gaining in the cultural panorama, with emphasis on the quality evolution of the bands with each new edition.
