Between September 25th and 28th, 2025, Guimarães once again becomes the stage for Dance Week. Organised by the Guimarães Dance Association (ADG), the initiative offers the public a diverse program that intersects training, creation, and artistic presentation, bringing together nationally and internationally renowned performers, choreographers, and creators.
The event kicks off this Thursday, September 25th, with a masterclass by Quorum Dance Company, led by Inês Godinho, Margarida Carvalho, and Beatriz Graterol, performers of the piece “Gate 57.” The sessions will take place at Espaço Oficina on the first two days of the event and are designed for dance students and professionals who wish to delve deeper into contemporary techniques and methodologies.
On September 27th, the Black Box at CIAJG – José de Guimarães International Arts Center will host the show “Gate 57” by Quorum Dance Company, directed by Daniel Cardoso, at 6 pm. This choreographic creation is a sensory journey that invites us to slow down the frenetic pace of everyday life, rediscovering the beauty of small things and the essential connection with the present.
Viewers will embark on a journey to a time when we could float between memories of sunny afternoons and endless conversations, where the present becomes eternal. It’s an invitation to pause, to embrace each moment in a space where technology is but a distant shadow.
The program continues on September 28th, with the “Bright Horses” workshop, led by creators Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares, at the Guimarães Ballet Academy. Inspired by the play of the same name, the laboratory offers a space for sharing and experimenting around relationships of intimacy, affection, and conflict.
Concurrently, from September 26th to 28th, António M. Cabrita’s Holographic Project will be on display at the Plataforma das Artes, the result of a creation developed during the previous edition of Dance Week.
Guimarães Dance Week 2025 is organised by ADG – Guimarães Dance Association, with artistic direction by Daniel Cardoso, and supported by the Guimarães City Hall, A Oficina, and Teatro Oficina, among other partners. The event is part of the IMPACTA – Municipal Investment in Cultural, Territorial, and Artistic Projects and Activities program.
