“Green Week Guimarães” returns this week for another edition. Between Friday, May 31st, and Sunday, June 2nd, sustainability will once again “invade” Alameda S. Dâmaso with various activities, which aim to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of the environment. In addition to conferences, forums, workshops and round tables, there will also be a wide variety of cultural proposals for all ages.

Among the more than 50 initiatives planned during the three days of “Green Week”, highlights include the Missão 100 Cidades – Guimarães 2030 conference, the concerts by HMB, Tiago Nacarato and Siga a Farra, the round table “The future of urban mobility”, for the Youth Forum: Cities of the Future, for the vertical wall dance show by the AIRA Vertical Wall Dance group and for the Silent Party.

Throughout the event, the II Iberian Fair of acorn products will also take place, coexisting with markets and the food area. There will also be a diverse set of activities and fun spaces for the little ones.

Mission 100 Cities Conference and HMB mark the start of Green Week

The first day of “Green Week Guimarães” will be marked by the Mission 100 Cities – Guimarães 2030 conference, which will take place on Friday, May 31st, at 4 pm. During the session, the new Guimarães 2030 website will be presented, with an analysis of the development of the Guimarães Climate Pact, an initiative promoted by the municipality that aims to involve citizens, companies, institutions and the municipality in a collaborative action to decarbonize the territory, with a view to climate neutrality in 2030.

Also noteworthy is the round table, in which the importance of local strategies for the climate transition will be debated, with the participation of Domingos Bragança (president of the Municipal Council of Guimarães), José Pimenta Machado (vice-president of the Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente), Gabriela Uchoa (NetZeroCities expert), Jorge Portugal (general director of COTEC) and Bruno Veloso (vice-president of the Board of Directors of ADENE). The moment is moderated by RTP journalist, Sandra Sousa.

At night, the event continues with great entertainment, with dance and music taking on a central role. At 10 pm, the AIRA Vertical Wall Dance group takes to the “stage” of the Customs Tower for an exciting vertical wall dance show. At 10:30 pm, attention turns to HMB, who promises a concert with a lot of soul in which no one will stand still.

The future of cities and mobility was highlighted on the second day

On Saturday, June 1st, at 3 pm, sustainability will once again be under the spotlight on the Green Week stage, during the round table “The future of urban mobility. The “Cities of the future” will be the central theme of the Youth Forum scheduled for 5 pm, in a panel that will be moderated by radio and television presenter Catarina Moreira and contributions from young people from Guimarães, such as Rui Oliveira, Deputy Secretary of State and da Igualdade, businessman Miguel Soares and singer Maria João Soares.

After sunset and the performance of the group Toda a Gente, it will be the turn of a name known to the Portuguese to “reconquer” the Guimarães public. From 10 pm onwards, Tiago Nacarato will demonstrate all his talent and determination, which have made him one of the most complete singers in current Portuguese music, in an intimate concert, but one that promises great furore. To end the night, Largo do Toural hosts the Silent Party, a party that will have hundreds of people dancing and singing, with headphones in their ears and where silence is the watchword.

Last day highlights projects with positive impacts on the community
