Guimarães: Gallery

The city of Guimarães was selected as a Unesco World Heritage site in December 2001, due to the history and conservation of its monuments as well as the surrounding buildings, which have maintained their homogeneity over the years.

These were some of the mandatory requirements for the application. The castle, the Collegiate Church of N.ª S. da Oliveira and the Palace of the Dukes of Bragança are some examples of this.

However, if this classification is to be maintained, it will have to continue to preserve its heritage and its cultures.
