GUN, the Scottish band that won an MTV EMA, arrives in Portugal with the Hombres Tour on October 26th, to perform at Hard Club Porto.

GUN, from Glasgow, formed in 1987 and gained momentum after signing with A&M Records in 1988. Initially known as Blind Allez and Phobia, they released their debut album Taking On The World in 1989, with the hit single “Better Days”. This initial success led them to tour with big bands like The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi. Despite initial lineup changes, the band’s core spirit remained strong, with notable albums such as Gallus (1992) and Swagger (1994), the latter featuring their hit version of Cameo’s “Word Up“.
The band faced challenges in the late 90s, leading to a split in 1997 due to internal problems and pressure from publishers. During this break, the members pursued other interests, but their passion for music persisted, leading to their reunion in 2008. After the reunion, GUN released several albums, including Break The Silence (2012), Frantic (2015), and Favorite Pleasures (2012). 2017), which marked his return to the UK charts and his reunion with his fans.
The period of confinement provided a creative boost for the band, inspiring the Calton Songs project, named after their childhood neighbourhood. This album reinterprets and revisits their previous work, showcasing the band’s enduring spirit and evolution. The single “Backstreet Brothers” exemplifies their reflection on past experiences while looking to the future, reaffirming their commitment to making music that resonates with longtime fans and new listeners.
